Five More Killed In The Name of Honor-Killing: Five persons, including two women were gunned by armed men in Balochistan’s Nasirabad district ‘in the name of honour’ on Tuesday. Authorities say the incident took place in Goth Haibat Khan area of Baba Kot in Tehsil Tambo, where armed men opened fire at a house killing all those present inside of it.
District Police Office Javed Shah Ghirsheen rushed to the scene and shifted the bodies to district hospital Dera Murad Jamali for autopsy.
“The motive behind the crime has been ascertained to be in the name of honour,”Ghirsheen said.
The police official added that the armed men managed to escape after committing the crime. Ghirsheen added that two women were among those killed as well. He said that area residents had claimed that the incident is an honour killing.
He however, said that they were looking into other aspects of the case. The victims have been identified as Irshada Bibi, Lila, Hameedullah, Manzoor Ahmed and Rahimdad.
“All the five deceased received multiple bullet wounds causing their deaths right there and then,” hospital officials said. Police have been carrying out raids to arrest the accused persons with no headway being made till now.
A woman was shot dead, allegedly by her uncle, in Rahim Yar Khan on Monday, media sources reported. A police official said that Khadija Latif, a resident of Moza Noor Ahmedabad, had a riendship with Ataullah. He added the two had fallen in love with each other and decided to marry.
He maintained that two months ago, the couple ran away from their homes and tied the knot against the will of their family members.
He pointed out that the woman’s father, Abdul Latif, lodged a case for the kidnapping of his daughter at the police station. However, the police managed to trace the couple and sent Khadija back to her home. Meanwhile, when Khadija’s uncle Azhar Manzoor came to know about her secret marriage, he was enraged, the official said.
He mentioned that on the day of the incident, Azhar came to Khadija’s house and opened fire on her. As a result, she was killed on the spot, while her mother Sonan Mai suffered bullet injuries while she tried to save the girl. Later, the accused managed to escape from the spot.
A case had been registered against the alleged assailants and raids were being conducted to arrest them.
Earlier, a man gunned down another who he suspected of being his wife’s friend in Shah Sadar Din Town, Dera Ghazi Khan.
