Players of all teams were directed to inform authorities if the bookie tries to approach any of them.  PCB officials on the other hand are restricted by the International Cricket Council (ICC) to give away the picture of the alleged bookie.

Before this another attempt of spot-fixing made by Bangladeshi and Indian bookies was made unsuccessful by PCB who later took severe measures against them. Investigators of the PCB, with the help of intelligence agencies have identified the two fixers.

According to many, this was an attempt to disgust and damage PSL 2018 by Indian and Bangladeshi bookies who tried to contact players via three social mediums; Facebook, WhatsApp and FaceTime. The two bookies had then been baneed in the ICC Anti-Corruption Unit.

Earlier this year, PCB’s Anti-Corruption Unit had also taken severe measures against Sharjeel Khan and Khalid Lateef that put a 5 years ban on them for spot fixing. Besides them Mohammad Irfan, Shahzeb Hasan and Nasir Jamshed were also imposed huge fines and punishments. Due to these unkind experiences, the head of the PCB has been notified of the incident which has led the Anti-Corruption to take arduous actions.

In 2017 Captain Sarfraz Ahmed was the Pakistan player who was approached by an alleged bookie during the one-day international series against Sri Lanka reported the incident to the International Cricket Council (ICC) and the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) at that time.
