Indonesia To Host Asian Games From 18th August To 2nd September: After commonwealth games in Australia, next in line are the Asian games to keep athletes on the move. This time these games will take place in Indonesia with 10,000 athletes from 45 countries and regions in 40 sports participating in it. It will be the second time Indonesia hosting the Asian Games while for the first time these games will be co-hosted in two cities of Indonesia. One is in the Indonesian capital of Jakarta since 1962 and Palembang, the capital of South Sumatra province. Gelora Bung Karno Sports Complex in Jakarta will host 13 sports after renovation.

Vietnam was hosting Asian Games initially but withdrew due to financial limitations.

For the first time in Asian Games history, eSports will be featured as a demonstration sport. Additional disciplines other than belt wrestling, cricket, kurash, skateboarding, sambo, and surfing being introduced at the 2020 Summer Olympics are added by OCA, including 3×3 basketball and BMX freestyle.

Asian Games in Pakistan’s next target to show their muscle and strength in sports. Although the performance of the Pakistani athletes in the 21st Commonwealth Games left a question mark over the future of the sport in which the country once had a strong position, efforts are planned to train the athletes for different games.

Pakistan Boxing Federation (PBF) has planned to send boxers abroad for a two months training ahead of the Asian Games. Asian Games will be tougher than the Commonwealth Games as countries like Uzbekistan and Tajikistan will also be part of that event. After the month of May, at least four boxers will be going to Uzbekistan for two months training depending on the budget of the federation.

In this regards Pakistan boxing federation is in contact with inter provincial coordinator (IPC) and Pakistan sports board (PSB).

The four boxers who represented Pakistan in the Commonwealth Games in Gold Coast played an international event after around one year of their participation in Islamic Games in May 2017 in Baku and in Tashkent Asian Championships.

No Pakistani boxer has done anything impressive since 2014 in Asian games. Issue of finance and good coaches for training are the challenges faced by Pakistani athletes.

Pakistan was one of the first 5 founding members of the Asian Games Federation on 13 February 1949, in New Delhi, the organization which was disbanded on 26 November 1981, and replaced by the Olympic Council of Asia.
