A new pair of rare bears, a South Asian male and Syrian female, arrived in Karachi on Thursday and were welcomed by Karachi Zoo after a long period of 16 years.

The pair was transferred to the zoo by Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC).

Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah had issued orders last month to renovate the zoo and bring it on par with best zoos in the world.
