Monsoon rains intermittently lashing parts of country

Monsoon rains are intermittently lashing different parts of the country including Islamabad, Upper Punjab, Upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Kashmir.
A spokesperson of Met Office told our correspondent that the highest rainfall of 138mm has been recorded in Gujrat followed by 113mm in Sialkot. He said that 78mm rain was recorded in Rawalpindi and 61mm in Islamabad.
Several areas in Rawalpindi including Jamia Masjid Road and Nadeem Colony have been deluged under rainwater. Meantime, the water level of Nala Lai started to surge.
The Nala Lai water level rose to five feet at Gawal Mandi and nine feet at Katarian. Heavy machinery has been alerted to cope with the emergency situation.
In Gujrat, the rainwater entered houses and offices posing serious troubles to the local people. The low-lying areas have been waterlogged to three feet.
