Name of NAB chief not yet presented by Govt, Opposition: Khurshid Shah: Khurshid Shah the Opposition Leader on Thursday said that the reports regarding the appointment of a new chairman for the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) did not have substance. He added that no name fir the key slot had been proposed yet.

In the statement issued to the media by Shah said that he was in touch with all the political parties and would hasten the consultation after Ashura Muharram.

While adding that only the Jamaat e Islami had proposed a name for the post he said”I have held consultation with Tehreek-e-Insaf, besides meeting the prime minister. But neither the premier, nor the opposition has yet proposed a name for NAB chief.

Shah who is the leader of the opposition said that a unanimous name for the slot would be suggested to the prime minister after consultation with all the opposition parties. “People’s party decides on national affairs through consultation, while in the past too we took opposition parties into confidence on such matters.”

He added that the matter would be forwarded to the concerned parliamentary committee if the government and opposition failed to reach a consensus on the matter of the selection of NAB chairman.

He added in such a case a 12 member committee, consisting of six members each from the government and the opposition would apoint the NAB chief through voting.

Conversely Naeemul Haq the member of Pakistan Tehreek e Insaf member said that he had heard that the Intelligence Bureau (IB) director general was being nominated as the NAB chief.

“If this happened, we would oppose it,” he added.
