No NRO For Anyone Says PM: Prime Minister Imran Khan firmly told the opposition members that they will be held accountable for their corrupt practices.

Khan was addressing the nation on Wednesday.

He remarked that the opposition members have realised that their corruption is going to be exposed. “They are looking for an NRO,” he said. “Do whatever you want but you won’t get an NRO.”

The controversial National Reconciliation Ordinance, which was issued by former president Pervez Musharraf, had granted amnesty to politicians and bureaucrats accused in corruption and money laundering cases filed between January 1, 1986 and October 12, 1999.

We need to eliminate the cancer of corruption from Pakistan, the premier remarked. The poor pay the high price of corruption, he said. “We are doing everything we can to stop money laundering.”

He told the nation to not worry about anything. “We have a tough time ahead, but we will make everything right.” He said that the government is willing to offer containers to the opposition members if they want to stage protests.

Khan started his address saying that the country has received an ‘excellent’ bailout package from Saudi Arabia. He remarked that the country will seek a smaller loan from the International Monetary Fund now. “If we would’ve taken a bigger loan from the IMF, then it would impose more restrictions on the people.”

He said that Pakistan is currently talking to other friendly countries and told the people to expect more good news in the future.

The address came a day after Pakistan secured a $6 billion bailout package from Saudi Arabia. The prime minister is explaining the state of Pakistan’s economy and the steps PTI government is taking to overcome the challenges.

Earlier PM remarked that the National Accountability Bureau is not under him. “If the NAB was under me, there would’ve been at least 50 ‘big fish’ behind the bars.” He said the opposition is attempting to blackmail him by protesting Shehbaz Sharif’s arrest. “They are giving an impression that democracy is under threat.”

The anti-graft body arrested Shehbaz on Friday over his involvement in Ashiana housing scam.

Imran Khan regretted PPP Chairperson Bilawal Bhutto’s support for Shehbaz. “Accountability strengthens the democracy. This is not victimisation.”
