No province will be treated unfairly, PM tells CCI meeting: The 31st meeting of Council of Common Interests (CCI) chaired by Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif to discuss a 12-point agenda has concluded in Islamabad today (Tuesday).
During the meeting, Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah expressed reservations and demanded equitable distribution of water in all the provinces. He also urged the authorities to eliminate the dearth of gas as early as possible.
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa CM Pervez Khattak asked for the net profit of electricity to overcome the energy crisis in the country.
Matters pertaining to other natural resources amongst the provinces as well as the proposed national liquefied natural gas (LNG) policy were also discussed.
Officials of Pakistan Bureau of Statistics also presented a progress report on the ongoing census exercise under which the first phase of census has been accomplished while the second phase is underway in 87 selected districts.
Implementation of the decisions taken in yesterday’s meeting was also reviewed whereas a thorough debate on the plan related to protection from natural disasters was also conducted.
All the provinces would get equal opportunities, assured PM Nawaz.
The meeting was attended by the provincial chief ministers, federal ministers for finance, water and power, SAFRON, planning, petroleum, overseas Pakistanis, religious affairs, defence production and climate change.
