Panama Papers probe: Hassan Nawaz to appear before the JIT: The younger son of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, Hassan Nawaz, will appear on Friday, 2nd, May, 2017 in front of the Joint Investigation Team (JIT). This was the first appearance of the PM’s son in front of the JIT which was assigned by the Supreme Court to probe into the involvement of Sharif family in the Panama Scandal.
Upon his arrival at the Federal Judicial Academy, Hassan Nawaz was flanked by PML-N leaders. On Thursday, 01st, June, 2017, Hussain Nawaz elder brother of Hassan Nawaz had appeared before the JIT for the third time in five days in order to defend the money trail of Sharif’s London properties.
Hussain on his emergence from the JIT secretariat claimed that there was not an iota of evidence of any wrongdoing or illegality committed by him, his father, brother and sister.
It is not understood what Hussain Nawaz will be questioned about when he will make his fourth appearance.
In the very first appearance before the JIT, Hussain Nawaz had earlier refused to answer the questions which were put forth by the investigative body, citing that the JIT’s status was ‘sub judice‘ as he had already filed a petition before the apex court regarding two of its constituents.
Afterwards, Supreme court had dismissed the petition filled by Hussain which was seeking the exclusion of the two JIT members. Afterwards in the next two hearings, the elder son of the premier had told the reporters that he had answered all questions which were put forward by the JIT.
The six-member JIT has been constituted by the apex court to examine the business dealings of the Sharif family abroad.
The apex court has also been monitoring the proceedings of the JIT on fortnightly basis.
