PM chairs federal cabinet meeting, approves ad hoc relief in salaries

A federal cabinet session under Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi was held on Tuesday to discuss the security situation in the country and underway development projects.

As per the agenda of the meeting, which was also earlier available with the media, the prime minister approved ad hoc relief for the prime minister and federal and state ministers as suggested by the finance ministry.

An ad hoc relief of 10 percent increase in the basic salaries of the chairman and deputy chairman of the Senate, parliamentary secretaries and MNAs has been approved.

The addition in the PM’s salary will be of Rs10,728, moreover, every federal minister and state minister will be given an additional Rs20,000 and Rs18,000, respectively.

Moreover, the prime minister was briefed on the issuance of arms licences. It was agreed to form a committee, under the PM, on the issue, comprising the interior minister, information minister and CAD minister. The committee will submit its report to the premier in the next cabinet session.

The projects that would be started in Karachi and Hyderabad with Rs30 billion — recently approved for the two cities — also came under discussion. The amount was allocated and approved by the prime minister for the two cities during his recent visit to Karachi.

The projects in Karachi and Hyderabad will be looked by the federal government and the governor of the province will be the administrator of the projects.

During his first official visit to Karachi, the prime minister announced a development project of Rs25 billion for the city, while Rs5 billion was announced for Hyderabad.
