Show the world you stand with Nawaz, Maryam urges NA-120 voters: Pakistan Muslim League Leader Maryam Nawaz, who is currently campaigning for the NA-120 by-poll on behalf of her mother Begum Kulsoom Nawaz, asked PML-N supporters to come out in force to show the world that their vote is with Nawaz Sharif.
“Come out to show your support for Nawaz on September 17,” she said while addressing a gathering of PML-N workers on Tuesday. “Come out on September 17 if you oppose Nawaz’s disqualification.”
“You must show the world that you are against injustice and oppression,” she urged the voters in the constituency. “Panama and iqama were a mere drama,” she added.
Earlier in the day, Maryam had reached Abdali Road and inaugurated a party office in the area.
On Monday, Maryam had said that Begum Kulsoom Nawaz will win a clear majority in the upcoming NA-120 by-election.
While addressing the female workers of PML-N during a meeting in Lahore’s Model Town, Maryam instructed the campaign for NA-120 to be expedited and also told the participants that Kulsoom Nawaz will be among them soon.
Maryam, is running the campaign while her mother and PML-N candidate for the by-poll, Kulsoom Nawaz, undergoes treatment for lymphoma in London.
The ballot papers for the upcoming by-election will be printed from September 10, with a five-day training course for polling staff commencing from September 6.
The polling scheme for the by-polls has also been issued by the returning officer.
The seat of NA-120 fell vacant after Nawaz was disqualified by the Supreme Court in the Panama Leaks case on July 28 on charges of concealing his salary from a Dubai-based company that he claims he never received.
A total of 44 candidates will contest the NA-120 by-poll. The Election Commission of Pakistan will establish 220 polling stations and 573 polling booths where the constituency’s 321,786 registered voters can cast their vote.
