Terrorist ‘sanctuaries’ in Afghanistan responsible for recent attacks says ISPR

Terrorist ‘sanctuaries’ in Afghanistan have been blamed for the bombings that had taken place in the country by the Pakistani military.

The statement comes just hours after three deadly bombings in Quetta and Parachinar, Kurram Agency. The bombings had killed 57 people and wounded more than hundred others.

DG ISPR Majore General Asif Ghafoor in a statement on twitter said that “Recent terrorist incidents linked to sanctuaries across.“Gen Ghafoor further added that surveillance along the country’s border with Afghanistan has been enhanced, promising “stringent actions against illegal border crossers.

The event will not be the first one of its kind as Pakistan has earlier blamed sanctuaries in Afghanistan for the bloodshed on its soil. Earlier, In February, 2017, officials of the Afghan Embassy in Islamabad were summoned to the General Headquarters of the Pakistan Army. There the official were handed over a list of 76 terrorists orchestrating attacks inside the Pakistani territory from Afghanistan.

These Afghan officials had been summoned after the deadly attacks in Sehwan, interior Sindh, and Lahore, which had left more than 100 people dead.

Pakistan also closed its border with Afghanistan in February after two deadly attacks in Sehwan and Lahore, the border was later on opened after nearly 20 days.

Earlier to this, the DG ISPR had said that special intelligence-based and search operations had been launched, with security tightened across the country.
