Qari Yaseen, the most-wanted militant and mastermind of attacks on the General Headquarters, former president Pervez Musharraf and the Sri Lankan cricket team, was killed in a drone strike conducted by the United States on Sunday in Barmal district of Afghanistan’s Paktika province.
Yaseen was associated with several banned terror outfits, including Jundullah and Al-Qaeda, and had executed major terror attacks across Pakistan.
He was wanted for attacks on the Sri Lankan cricket team, General Headquarters Rawalpindi, Inter-Services Intelligence Lahore Office, Marriott Hotel, Data Darbar Lahore, former president Pervez Musharraf, a Pakistan Army colonel and Punjab home minister Shuja Khanzada.
Yaseen hailed from Punjab’s Lodhran district and was considered to be an expert in making improvised-explosive devices and other types of bombs.
He, along with three of his accomplices, was killed on Sunday evening in a drone attack that targeted his vehicle.
