Women T20 Asia Cup Update: India Is In Women’s T20 Asia Cup Final

India beat Pakistan by seven wickets in the Women’s Twenty20 Asia Cup on Saturday, June 9 at Kinrara Academy Oval.

Batting first, Pakistan put up a target of 72 runs. Only two Pakistani batsmen reached double figures with opener Nahida Khan scoring and 18 and Sana Mir chipping in with 20 not out.

The entire team was bundled out for 72 runs for a loss of seven wickets.

Pakistan defeated Sri Lanka by 23 runs in the Women’s Twenty20 Asia Cup here at Kinrara Academy Oval on Wednesday.

Chasing 138, Sri Lanka could make 113 for nine as Pakistan off-break bowler Nida Dar devastated their batting line capturing five wickets for just 21 runs.

Earlier, batting first Pakistan scored 137 runs with the help of a superb unbeaten innings of 60, laced with seven fours, by skipper Bisma Maroof.

Both Pakistan and Sri Lanka have won two of their three matches but Sri Lanka are ahead of Pakistan on the points table because of their better run rate.

Pakistan will now play against hosts Malaysia on Thursday.

Bangladesh women cricket team on Monday defeated Pakistan by seven wickets in T20 Asia Cup with 13 balls remaining.

Batting first, Pakistan scored 95 for 5 at the end of their twenty overs. Sana Mir scored 21, while Javeria Khan scored 18. Bangladesh’s Nahida Akhtar took 2/23 and Raumana Ahmed took 1 wicket for 6 runs.

Bangladesh chased the target rather easily as the lost just three wickets. Nigar Sultana scored 31 (not out), while Shamima Sultana scored 31.

On Sunday, Pakistan women cricket team started the tournament with a dominant performance by defeating Thailand with eight wickets in its opening match.

Batting first, Thailand scored 67 for loss of eight wickets in its 20 overs, after batting collapse from 31-1 in 6 overs to 67-8 in 20 overs.

Chasing, Bibi Nahid gave Pakistan a flying start when the team scored 24 runs in first three overs. Pakistan chased the target easily with loss of two wickets.

India Beats Malaysia: Opener Mithali Raj’s unbeaten 97 followed by medium pacer Pooja Vastrakar’s 3/6 helped India register a convincing 142-run victory over hosts Malaysia in a Women’s T20 Asia Cup cricket tie at the Kinrara Academy Oval on Sunday. After putting 169 runs on the board, the Indian bowlers managed to bowl out the home team for just 27 runs as none of the Malaysian players touched double digits. Opting to bat first, India began the proceedings on a shaky note, losing opener Smriti Mandhana (2) and Vastrakar (16) for just 35 runs in 6.1 overs.

However, Mithali kept one end safe and forged a crucial 86-run partnership for the third wicket with skipper Harmanpreet Kaur (35 off 23 balls) to take her side past the 100-run mark.

Harmanpreet fell in the 15th over. Later, Deepti Sharma chipped in with an unbeaten 18 runs to help India reach 169 runs.

Mithali’s 97-run knock came off 69 balls, which contained 13 fours and a six.

In reply, Malaysia were off to a disastrous start as they host lost half of their side within the first five overs with the score at just 12.

Captain Winifred Duraisingam (5), Sasha Azmi (9), and Zumika Azmi (4) tried their best to put up some resistance. However the entire side succumbed before an experienced Indian bowling attack in 13.4 overs.

For India, Vastrakar was the wrecker-in-chief with figures of 3/6 from three overs while Poonam Yadav and Anuja Patil bagged a couple of wickets each.
