World Bank And Jazz Digital Youth Summit In KPK Brings Together Technology Innovators: The 2018 Digital Youth Summit (DYS), was being held in collaboration with Jazz, World Bank and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Information Technology Board (KPITB). The summit attracted three key audiences;
- Tech industry leaders from Pakistan and abroad,
- The emerging startup community,
- Young people looking to network and learn about digital skills.
The summit observed participants from the private sector, investors, government, civil society, youth groups and academia.
DYS 2018 was organized around three issue areas: Innovation, Entrepreneurship and Digital Skills. Since this age is a digital one.
Every year DYS with local and international digital entrepreneurs, technologists, companies and investors targets to share knowledge and experience, while training and investing in the thousands of youth attendees.
There were several panel discussions planned at the event, along with workshops for practical tips and training in areas like Android development, block chain, e-commerce, artificial intelligence, and machine learning.
Melinda Good, World Bank Country Manager for Pakistan said that the market for digital entrepreneurship, a multi-billion-dollar industry, growing at a rapid rate and is thirsty for young talent. She added that with creativity and passion, Pakistan can be at the forefront of social and economic change.
Under KPITB’s Durshal program, Jazz will build basic knowledge and understanding of the mobile internet by partnering with the digital skills training toolkit in KPK. The aim is to proliferate the benefits of connectivity and digital enablement to 40,000 youth in two years. Jazz will also support the program by providing mentoring to the startups housed at the Durshal labs.
About Digital Youth Summit
Since its inception in 2014, the Digital Youth Summit has quickly become one of the premier tech conferences in Pakistan. It is a technology focused conference that takes place annually in KPK. The summit aims to bring together “the next generation of digital innovators in Pakistan”.
