Balochistan environment tainted with polio virus

Threat of acquiring poliomyelitis has excessively elevated among the children of Balochistan as traces of the virus have been found in samples procured from Quetta, Qila Abdullah and Pishin districts.

The provincial government has decided to conduct anti-polio campaign in March 20 with cooperation of Ulema.

Children of and below the age of five will be administered with the vaccine as before. The former efforts had been fruitful as no cases were reported from the province this year.

Pakistan is among the only three countries in the world where transmission of polio virus is still prevalent.
