Concerns over manhandling of young lawyer expressed by Asma Jahangir
Asma Jahangir the former president of the Supreme Court Bar Association today has expressed serious concerns over manhandling of a young lawyer for pursuing a case against an influential lawyer.
She added that it is unfortunate that the lawyers themselves are obstructing justice. She added that no amount of pressure from any quarter will deter her from representing woman in distress.
She said that it is a unfortunate that lawyers are obstructing justice, adding that no amount of pressure from any quarter will deter me from representing women in distress.
She added saying that “This has been my life’s mission and I will remain committed to it till my last breath.”
It is necessary to mention here that a group of lawyers manhandled lawyer Usama Malik and hurled abuses at lawyer Noor Ejaz in the premises of court during the second hearing of Ayesha’s disappearance case at Lahore High Court (LHC).
On the other hand the civil society has strongly condemned the incident and said that a section of legal fraternity is trying to pressurise the court through their aggressive and abusive tactics hence obstructing justice and fair trial. Furthermore they had demanded an immediate action against those that displayed hooliganism and to charge them under contempt.
