The Federal Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education (FBISE) secrecy staff in the middle of the paper marking process has demanded to increase the rate of the allowance against each paper.

FBISE every year hires a number of people in its secrecy department and allocates them the duty to maintain the secrecy and record of the papers.

Details said that FBISE is awarding Rs.02 against each paper to senior officers and Rs.1.20 to assistants against each paper. Source said that later on 17% tax is also imposed on the final amount given to each official.

Source added that the secrecy officials are demanding from FBISE to raise the rate for senior official to Rs.05 and Rs.03 to assistant secrecy officials against each paper.

As per sources differences have emerged between board administration and the hired secrecy staff on the rate of the checking per paper. FBISE has also threatened to halt work which could result in the delayed announcement of Higher Secondary School Certificate (HSSC) and Secondary School Certificate (SSC) results.

Sources said that the secrecy staff has decided to halt the paper marking in middle of the work and start a movement for increase in the honorarium.

Sources added that the secrecy staff has demanded an increase in the payment after FBISE increased the registration and examination fee collected from the students.

A number of retired and senior teachers are also considering staging a protest outside FBISE to demand increase in the honorarium. However Chairman FBISE has confirmed that exams result will not be delayed in any case and there is no such demand of increase in paper checking allowance in his knowledge.

Allegations of harassment and misconduct

While on the other side students have accused a biology professor by profession, employed at the Islamabad Model College for Boys in the Sector H-9, had been sent for invigilation by the Federal Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education (FBISE) to the exams going on for three days of inappropriately mixing with them and passing scandalous remarks at them during their practical exam of Biology.

Additionally, the college has lodged an official complaint to the board against the invigilator accusing him of harassment and misconduct.
