Hygiene Of Mountains While Visiting At Iftar Or Sehri Timings Is The Responsibility Of Hotel Owners And The Tourists: MCI deputy mayor Zeeshan Naqvi said hotel owners throw their waste at mountains spoiling its beauty and environment at #Iftar or #Sehri timings.

The cleanliness of mountains is responsibility of visitors and hotel owners. Such careless and unhygienic practices are causing #health hazards for the visitors as visitors do not take any particular interest in the cleanliness of the facility, he said and added and as a result, empty plastic bottles and snack wrappers are becoming more visible throughout the course.

Naqvi said people generally had volunteered to collect garbage including huge mass of waste including plastic bottles, wrappers, tins, shopping bags and food-packaging thrown by the environment visitors.

Tourism and the Sustainable Development Goals Journey to 2030 aims to build knowledge empower and inspire tourism stakeholders to take necessary action to accelerate the shift towards a more sustainable tourism sector.

In this regard, World Tourism Organization publication highlights the links between tourism and the SDGs and provides recommendations on how to steer the road towards 2030, said a press release.

It is based on an analysis of 64 countries Voluntary National Reviews (VNRs) on the SDGs submitted to the United Nations high level Political Forum on Sustainable Development in 2016 and 2017, eight Mainstreaming, Acceleration and Policy Support (MAPS) country road-maps and corporate social responsibility (CSR) activities of 60 global tourism companies.

During the 70th Session of the UN General Assembly 154 heads of state or government adopted the bold and ambitious 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, along with the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) that aim to protect the planet.

Based on this universal, integrated and trans-formative vision, UNWTO is placing its efforts and tireless work in contributing with its technical assistance and capacity-building to the achievement of these global goals.
