Nomination Papers Submission Deadline Ended Yesterday

Nomination Papers Submission Deadline Ended Yesterday: The deadline to submit nomination papers General Election 2018 expired on Monday. As per a revised election schedule issued by the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) on June 8, the last day to submit nomination papers was extended from June 8 to June 11.

The electoral body had said that the date for submission of nomination papers was extended to facilitate political parties. The deadline to complete the scrutiny of nomination papers was changed from June 14 to June 19. The last day to file appeals against any objection to the decisions of returning officers was extended till June 22.

The verdicts on appeals will be announced by June 27, after which, the revised list of candidates will be issued on June 28. Candidates will be able to withdraw their nomination papers on June 29, and the electoral body will announce the final list of candidates on the same day.

over 12000 nomination papers were filed by candidates with electoral body as deadline expired Monday.

As per details garnered, ECP has forwarded data of all candidates to departments concerned including Federal Board of Revenue (FBR), National Accountability Bureau (NAB) and State Bank of Pakistan (SBP).

Meanwhile, ECP is scrutinizing the data submitted by candidates through online scrutiny system whereas the process of scrutiny will be summed up by June-19. The returning officers have started scrutiny of nomination papers filed by candidates from different political parties for contesting general elections for 14 National Assembly and 30 Provincial assembly seats from today.

After weeklong scrutiny, constituency wise list of eligible candidates will be displayed on June 19.

Following completion of scrutiny process, candidates can file appeal against the objections raised on nomination papers by June-22. Electoral body will dispose of appeals by June-27 whereas a revised list of candidates will be issued by June-29.

The electoral symbols will be issued to candidates on June 30. Polling will be conducted on July 25.

The amended schedule is also applicable for candidates contesting the elections on reserved seats.
