JIT: Shehbaz Sharif appears before Panama
Chief Minister (CM)Punjab Shehbaz Sharif has appeared before Panama Joint Investigation Team (JIT).
The CM appeared before the court without his assigned protocol. However the senior leadership of Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N) is accompanying the CM.
The CM will be questioned by the JIT regarding Huddaibiya Paper Mills and queries related to Panama Leaks, Sharif family’s London flats and money trail for that property.
A Large number of PML-N supporters is present outside the academy.
The security of the Judicial complex has been tightened by the Capital police.
Furthermore the traffic police had blocked roads surrounding the academy for normal traffic and the citizens had been asked to use alternative routes.
Earlier before the hearing Mr Sharif had met with the Interior Minister Chaudhary Nisar in the Punjab House and discussed different aspect regarding the Panama Leaks case.
On June the 15th, Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif had appeared before the joint investigation team (JIT)which is probing his family’s offshore business dealings.
The PM is the first one to appear before a investigation authority.
In the past, prime ministers Yousuf Raza Gilani and Raja Pervaiz Ashraf had been summoned for presenting their stances, but both of them were called by a judicial forum (Supreme Court) and not by any investigation body.
