Judge extends remand of DG PHA, others
Additional district & session judge Rawalpindi Gulzar Ahmed Khalid has given three days extension in remand of Director General (DG) Abid Mehmood Malik of Parks & Horticulture Authority (PHA) and four others.
According to detail, DG PHA Rawalpindi and others were arrested by anti corruption police over alleged corruption in austro trough purchased for two football grounds of Rawalpindi and the court remanded all the officials for three days.
Now the court has extended the tenure of remand for another three days.
On Monday, Counsel of accused Advocate Raja Nazir told the court that anti corruption police had registered case against his plaintiffs without any investigation, adding that anti corruption police does not have the power to register a case without investigation.
“Case registered against my complainants is baseless,” Raja Nazir told the court.
It is pertinent to mention that DGPHA Rawalpindi Abid Mehmood Malik, Director Azizullah Malik, Deputy Director Saqib Elahi, Assistant Director Khalid Saeed Butt, Sub engineer Shakeel, Contractors Shafiq and Khawar Saeed had taken into custody by anti corruption department Rawalpindi on report of Chief Minister’s inspection team.
They had allegedly purchased substandard austro trough costing Rs. 850 million to lie down in Shehbaz Sharif sports stadium Rawalpindi and Municipal football stadium but chief minister’s inspection team declared the purchased austro trough as “substandard”.
After the report of inspection team, Chief Minister (CM) Punjab immediately dismissing DGPHA Rawalpindi Abid Mehmood Malik, Director Azizullah Malik, Deputy Director Saqib Elahi and Assistant Director Khalid Saeed Butt ordered enquiry and recovery from contractors.
Following the CM orders diligently, anti corruption department had taken the accused into custody and now the court has extended their remand for another three days.
