Neymar Out of Action Until the Eve of the World Cup
Neymar Out of Action Until the Eve of the World Cup: Brazil superstar Neymar went under surgery for a broken right foot this Saturday. AFP said that the operation was performed by national team surgeon Rodrigo Lasmar and the surgery to mend the broken fifth metatarsal was not difficult and almost took between 1 hour and 90 minutes.
What worries Brazil and PSG is how long it will take Neymar to get back on the field and score goals.
Lasmar describes the break as serious and says that recovery will take from two and a half to three months putting the planet’s most expensive footballer out of action until the eve of the World Cup.
That leaves PSG devoid of the striker. Neymar has scored 28 goals in 30 appearances in all competitions for PSG, a productive performance cut short by the injury on February 25 during PSG’s 3-0 drubbing of Marseille.
Brazil is seen as a top contender this time and Brazil’s concern is that Neymar will be coming back only a few weeks before June, the start of the World Cup in Russia.
Neymar returned from Paris to his villa on the Brazilian coast on Thursday and on Friday night flew to Belo Horizonte. Ahead of his arrival at the hospital he posted a picture on Instagram of himself on a wheelchair.
Doctors are hopeful that they will be getting him ready in time for the World Cup in Mexico. Cristiano Nunes, the physiotherapist for Brazilian first division club Internacional in Porto Alegre said that Neymar will arrive rejuvinated and physically and emotionally fresh with a real desire to play football and show his full potential.
Neymar is a Brazilian professional footballer who plays as a forward for French club Paris Saint-Germain and the Brazil national team. Neymar came into prominence at an early age at Santos, where he made his professional debut aged 17.
