Pakistan Army responds to firing along LoC, 5 Indian soldiers killed by Pakistan retaliation: Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR) has said that in response to the “unprovoked” firing along the Line of Control (LoC) Pakistani troops retaliated by firing at the Indian armies posts, which resulted in the deaths of Five Indian soldiers. Indian bunkers were also destroyed in the firing, ISPR has further elaborated that the Pakistani troops “responded violently.”
This episode marks the second cease fire violation in the week. On Thursday, 1st, June, 2014, two individuals were killed and six others injured when Indian troops resorted to unprovoked firing along the LoC.
Cross border firing Incidents has become a norm ever since the last months of 2016. Tensions between the two nuclear states have risen concerning the Kashmir issue. Exchange of fire between two countries has become a norm since the New Year.
After the Uri army base attack in September 2016, the Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi had stepped up a drive to ‘isolate‘ Pakistan diplomatically.
Earlier India had claimed to have conducted a surgical strike following the attack, India claims to have launched a ‘surgical strike‘ against ‘launch pads of terror‘ in Azad Jammu and Kashmir, a claim which was rejected by Pakistan.
On the other hand Pakistan has claimed that India has been attempting to divert the world’s attention away from the atrocities that it is committing in Indian occupied Kashmir.
