Pakistan’s pair set final date with India for IBSF World Team Cup: On Friday, by defeating Hong Kong 3-2 in the semi-final in Doha, Pakistan’s Muhammad Asif and Babar Masih set a final date with India, at the International Billiard And Snooker Federation IBSF World Team Championship. Muhammad Asif with Babar Masih who hails from Rawalpindi, were in Pakistan1 and earlier they defeated Wales2 in the quarter-final 3-1, before taking on Hong Kong who were harder to beat.

Pakistan1 accomplished the first frame 68-34, but lost the following two frames 29-63, 59-69. However, the team recovered focus in the next two frames to win 78-49 and 68-56 and take the match away from Hong Kong. They beat host Qatar1 3-1 to progress in the competition, in the round-of-16.

The second team from Pakistan, on the other hand is composed of Muhammad Sajjad and Asjad Iqbal have lost 3-2 in the pre-quarterfinals against Wales2. The event was featuring 24 teams in eight groups.

Asif had told Media Sources, from Doha before the start of the tournament, that they would want to give their best and for them the competition is not easy in any way. Asif and Babar will be playing India2, having Manan Chandra and Pankaj Advani, who defeated Iran 3-2 in the semi-final. Asif, who has recently won  the national championship after five years, stated that he wants to make history with their win, in the World Team Cup final, as it is the inaugural event and hoped to play by putting maximum efforts.

In the IBSF calendar, the inaugural IBSF World Team Cup is a new annual event that is taking place in Doha and being held in partnership with the Asian Confederation of Billiards Sports (ACBS). Qatar Billiards and Snooker Federation have decided from 2018 to hold a competitive event like this every year.
