Panama verdict: Imran Khan will not be in Supreme Court today

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan will not be attending today’s hearing at the Supreme Court.

Earlier reports had stated that the PTI chief — one of the three petitioners in the Panama Papers case — would be present in court.

However, an early morning tweet by the PTI chairman’s spokesperson, Naeemul Haque, stated that Imran Khan would not be going to the Supreme Court today.

The Supreme Court’s five-member Panama case bench is expected to begin proceedings at 11:30am today to announce its verdict.

PTI’s Shireen Mazari and Fawad Chaudhry, Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) chief Siraul Haq — another petitioner in the case — have reached the apex court.

Strict security measures are in place at the apex court where entry is only being allowed to those who have obtained special permission from the court’s registrar.

Sources said that 35 members of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz, 41 of the PTI, 15 of JI, 17 of Awami Muslim League — whose chief Sheikh Rasheed is the third petitioner in the case — and nine of the Pakistan Peoples Party have been given passes to appear in court.
