Petition filed in SC seeking disqualification of 17 member’s parliament including PM
A petition has been filed in Supreme Court (SC) seeking disqualification and contempt of court proceedings against 17 parliamentarians including Prime Minister Mian Nawaz Sharif, CM Punjab Mian Shahbaz Sharif, and Minister for Railways Khawaja Saad Rafique and others for making Anti-judiciary statements.
Petitioner Amna Malik from civil society network has filed this petition through Azhar Siddique Advocate in SC seeking disqualification and initiation of contempt of court proceedings against 17 parliamentarians including PM.
Prime Minister Mian Muhammad Nawaz Sharif, CM Punjab Mian Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif, Minister for Railways Khawaja Saad Rafique, State minister for water and power Khawaja Asif, minister for petroleum Shahid Khaqan Abbasi, Daniyal Aziz, PM special assistant on political affairs Ahmad Saeed Kirmani, Captain (Retd) Safdar, Finance Minister Ishaq Dar, Minister for planning and development Ahsan Iqbal, Talal Chaudhry, Maiza Hameed, Barrister Hassan Ranjha, Minister for CADD Tariq Fazal Chaudhry , former minister for broadcasting Pervaiz Rasheed, Minister of Law Rana Sanaullah, and Nehal Hashim have been made respondents in the petition.
The petitioner took the plea that these 17 parliamentarians continuously gave anti-judicial statements before panama case hearing and after the release of JIT report which clearly falls under contempt of court .
These members parliament who have been made respondents in the panama petition have committed violation of Article 62 and 63 of the constitution through their anti-judiciary statements.
It was also mentioned in the petition that respective forum chairman senate and speaker national and provincial assemblies were also approached for disqualification of these members parliament but that were rejected as Speaker national and provincial assembly belongs to PML-N therefore the rejection of petitions was based on malafide intent.
Petitioner prayed to court that it should issue orders for disqualification of 17 parliamentarians and initiate contempt of court proceedings against them.
