PM To Host Ceremony For Commonwealth Winners On May 10th: A ceremony will be held in the Prime Minister House on May 10th to honor the sports persons who achieved medals in the recent Commonwealth Games in Australia. Prime Minister of Pakistan Shahid Khaqan Abbasi will present a cheque of Rs. 5 million to the wrestler Inam Butt who won gold medal.

Commonwealth games were held in Gold Coast, Australia recently where Pakistan ended up with one gold and four bronze medals. The winners of Bronze medal Bilal Butt, Tayyab, Talha Talib and Nuh Dastageer will be awarded with Rs. 5 lac each.

Pakistani wrestler Mohammad Inam outclassed his Nigerian opponent Melvin Bibo in the 86kg category to win gold medal at the Commonwealth Games 2018. Inam, is also a gold medalist of Delhi Commonwealth Games in 2010, secured victory 6-0 without allowing his opponent to even earn a single point.

Two other wrestlers Mohammad Bilal and Tayyab Raza won the Bronze while weightlifters Talha Talib and Nooh Butt also got Bronze medals in their respective categories.

According to Pakistan Sports Board (PSB) representative M Azam Dar, Minister for Inter-Provincial Coordination Mian Riaz Hussain Pirzada and PSB Director General Amir Ali Ahmed will also participate in the ceremony.

 

Earlier last month the colourful closing ceremony of the Gold Coast 2018 Commonwealth Games ends on happy note with host Australia top the medal table with 198 medals including 80 gold medals, 59 silver and as many bronze medals while Pakistan finished at 24th with one gold and four bronze medals here on Sunday.

The Games provided sensational competitions that reflect the true spirit of the 6,600 athletes from 71 countries and territories of the world in 18 different disciplines. The people around the world just witnessed fabulous competitions and spectacular achievements across eighteen different sports.

Then England will host the XXII Commonwealth Games in 2022 and the flag of the Commonwealth Games was also handed over to them during the closing ceremony with millions of people enjoyed the enthusiasms showed by the athletes from around the world including Pakistan.
