Protection from Taliban asked by Aitzaz Hasan’s family after Taliban threats

Protection from Taliban asked by Aitzaz Hasan’s family after Taliban threats: Aizaz Hasan the courageous teenager who sacrificed his life while stopping a suicide bomber from attacking his school in Hangu has is gone, but his family is anxiously awaiting response after they have received death threats allegedly from the Talibaan.

15 year old Aitzaz Hasan had sacrificed his life on 6th January 2017, when he saved hundreds of lives and became a national hero. The 15 year old was awarded Sitara-e-Shujaat from the government.

However the pleas of his family for protection are going unheard, while they about their business worried for the consequences and spend their time in the village of Ibrahimzai.

Mujtaba who is the older brother of Aitzaz said that the family had received a threatening letter from the Tehreek-E-Taliban Pakistan. The letter said “Aitzaz Hasan is not a hero nor a martyr. If Aitzaz’s brother Mujtaba does not stop meeting media and officials of government institutions, he will be responsible for any loss.

Afterwards, Mujtaba had registered a complaint with the city’s police station and asked for the authorities to protect his family.

The SHO of Hangu City Farid Khan had confirmed that Mujtaba had filed a complaint on the matter on 6th April, but he added that they have not registered a case as the inquiry into the matter is underway.

After being unsatisfied with the response of the law enforcement agencies Mujtaba had written letters to the Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar and the Inspector General of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa police for the security of the family, following the recent threat.

Mujtaba said “Despite my plea to the relevant security institutions informing them of the threat, I have not yet received a reply from any of them. Right now my family only has one guard for protection, provided by the district administration. It is a request to the authorities to give us the required security. My family is going through trauma and need their support.

Furthermore He had regretted that the provincial and federal governments are “disgracefully ignoring his family. The provincial government has not been in contact with my family. They are yet to keep their word of building two colleges and a sports stadium in Aitzaz’s name. The federal government has not contacted us at all.

Furthermore he added that no one even bothered to find out how they were living their lives.

He added that his family demands that 6th January shall be observed as ‘Aitzaz Day’ all over Pakistan so the teenager’s sacrifice should never be forgotten.

While addressing the relevant officers Mujtaba added “He is a young martyr who gave his life for Pakistan. Please don’t ignore us so cruelly.
