Supreme Court’s verdict ridiculed by PML-N: Fawad Chaudhry

The way PML-N has ridiculed the supreme court’s verdict is unprecedented in the country’s history, says Pakistan Tehreek E Insaaf’s (PTI) Fawad Chaudhry. He said this while adressing a press conference in Lahore on Tuesday.

While referring to the verdict given by the Supreme Court of Nawaz Sharif’s disqualification as the prime minister of the country, Fawad said that the former prime minister keeps asking as to why he was disqualified, he added that Nawaz has been unable to prove his innocence during the 134 day hearing of the SC and the probe of the Joint Investigation Team (JIT) which lasted a 60-day period. The JIT was formed in order to probe the former PM’s assets.

Chaudhry while referring to the appearance of Nawaz Sharif before the accountability court on Tuesday added that the government spent millions of rupees for the appearance of the former prime minister.

The PTI spokesperson also criticised the manner in which Nwaz reached the accountability court, he said it was not befitting of him to reach the court with an escort of 45 cars.

According to Fawad Nawaz had not returned to the country for accountability but to save his seat. He begged the question that “How can we expect these people to bring about change?”

He further alleged that the leaders of the PML-N have been employing delay tactics in order to escape punishment.

“Sometimes Nawaz Sharif is not present in the country, sometimes his children are not. These are ways to waste the court’s time.”

Chaudhry also demanded for the apex court to look into the behaviour and speeches made by the PML-N leaders and take an action against it.

Finance Minister Ishaq Dar will be indicted by the accountability court tomorrow [Wednesday]. “But, he has no shame as he did not leave his portfolio as yet,” he added.
