Three member Pakistani team to appear before ICJ on Jadhav case: On Thursday, 8th, June, 2017, three member team led by Attorney General Pakistan will be appearing before the International Court of Justice in the Indian spy Kulbhushan Jadhav’s case.
The media reports suggest that the team will also meet ICJ President.
Attorney General Ashraf Ausaf, Foreign Office Director General Dr. Faisal and Pakistani lawyer Khawar Qureshi are part of the Pakistani team.
Earlier on 18th, May, 2017, in a decision hailed by New Delhi, the UN’s top court had ordered Pakistan to stay the execution of an Indian national who was convicted of spying and running a terrorist network.
On the other hand, Pakistan had said that the decision of the International Court of Justice (ICJ) had not changed the status of Kulbhushan Sudhir Jadhav’s case in any manner. Pakistan further claims that India has no substance in the case.
ICJ Judges had ruled in a unanimous and binding decision that Jadhav must not be put to death by Islamabad until they have had time to pass final judgment in the case.
The ICJ had just stopped short of ruling on the issue of consular access to the Indian embassy officials in Pakistan for Jadhav.
The ruling had not favored the arguments of any side but was meant to prevent Pakistan from taking any irrevocable steps before the court can decide whether it has jurisdiction in the case and, later, which side is right or wrong.
