UN says that Pakistan hosts the second largest refugee population
A UN report shows that there are 65.3 million refugees around the world who have been displaced from their homes as a result of war, poverty, economic conditions and natural disasters.
United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) has said that Pakistan ranks second among the countries which host refugees. Furthermore United Nations Geneva has praised Pakistan for its efforts in relocating refugees, mainly from Afghanistan.
Pakistan comes second with a total refugee population of 1,505,525.
Annual report for UNHCR’s has ranked Turkey, Pakistan and Syria, the three countries as being the top hosts for refugees since 2011. The estimated population of Afghan refugees in Pakistan is of the documented refugees only. The number of undocumented refugees remains unknown.
